CFA Institute Research Challenge in India – West Zone Final 2013-14 – Judges Profile

Jayesh Gandhi is Executive Director and the Lead Portfolio Manager for multi-cap/mid-cap equity strategies with Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) in India.  He is part of the MSIM Emerging Markets - India Equity team which is one of the largest institutional asset managers investing in equities.  He joined Morgan Stanley in 2007 and has over 15 years of investment experience. Prior to joining the Firm, he worked with Birla Sunlife Asset Management. After receiving the Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Mumbai, Jayesh obtained the Chartered Accountant designation from ICAI, India. He has also obtained Master of International Management degree from Thunderbird School for Global Management, USA and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is an active volunteer and recently taken over as the 2nd President of the IAIP, the CFA Society in India.

 

 

Neelkanth Mishra is the India Equity Strategist for Credit Suisse, and is rated among the best analysts in India in Institutional Investor and AsiaMoney polls. He also covers Metals & Mining stocks. He has earlier worked on Indian Pharmaceuticals, Taiwan IC design, semiconductor foundries and Asian tech strategy research when based in Mumbai, Singapore and Taipei. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, he was a Senior Technical Architect with Infosys Technologies. He has also worked with Hindustan Lever Limited and has been an entrepreneur. He is a gold medallist from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, graduating in Computer Science and Engineering, and was ranked fourth in the prestigious entrance exam to the IITs. He is currently based in Mumbai.

 

 

Amit Khurana is currently the Director - Research with Dolat Capital, Mumbai leading a team of twenty covering India listed equities. Amit has previously worked with IL&FS on the proprietary book managing USD 1 bn with the CIO. Amit also had stints with Birla Group, PNB MF and Collins Stewart in senior management positions. He has been working in India Equities for over sixteen years with exposure to multiple asset classes. Amit is actively involved with the IAIP as a founding member, currently on the Directors in charge of the JobLine and Employer Outreach efforts. Amit is the guest lecturer at IIT Kharagpur, BSE Institute and IBS, Delhi.  He was awarded the CFA charter in 2006. Amit’s qualification also includes the MBE program from Delhi University (1996 batch).
