Mumbai, September 17, 2013: CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, and IAIP – a member society of CFA Institute announces the kick-off of the 7th CFA Institute Research Challenge (IRC) India Chapter. This annual educational initiative promotes best practices in equity research through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills.

43 leading business schools from across India are expected to participate in this year’s challenge. The platform is a unique opportunity to showcase the talent of young, thriving and potential business leaders on a global platform. 8-9 teams/B-schools from each of the five zones i.e. West, East, North, South & Central will compete for the zonal finals scheduled to be held in November/December. The zonal finalists will then represent India and compete against other countries like Malaysia, China, Japan at the Asia-Pacific Level. The APAC finalists will then compete at the global competition to be held in Bangkok, Thailand in April 2014.

Participating teams will write an equity research report on a publicly traded company, and present their findings to an expert panel. The teams will be locally evaluated by high-profile panels of experts from top financial institutions on basis of their written reports and the presentations.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Kishor Bagri said, “IRC has always encouraged knowledge hungry students to compete in a battle of wits. Over the years, participants have shown great enthusiasm in developing their knowledge and skills in investment research and the high quality of their presentations demonstrated that their hard work had paid off. Through IRC, we continue our efforts in promoting the best practices and the highest standards of ethical conduct, and supporting the industry and young generation with career information and educational initiatives.”

Introduced in 2006, CFA Institute Research Challenge is considered as "the investment Olympics" for university students, with more than 10,000 students having participated. This year, more than 3500 students from 775 universities worldwide will participate in the local rounds of competition.
